Bike theft up in New York City

For the "Only in New York" file, A undisclosed report states that thus far in 2008, bike thefts have surpassed the entire total of thefts in 2007. "Experts" believe that it is because there are more environmentalist who attempt to do more biking than driving so there are much more bikes on the road. Hey New York Bad Guys give us a break we are trying to save the earth for the people, what are you doing?

I lost three bikes in four months in Astoria. My first bike went fast. Just chained it to the meter, went in the supermarket and within 15min it was gone in broad-day-light in front of many bystanders who did nothing, saw nothing. FUCK!

I'm sure no one ever gets the bike back, ever. It's a joke for the police when they get these reports.

I went online and found a nice bike for half the price on graigslist.com
Even thou I suspected that it was stolen I bought it. A few days later that one was stolen. I got another one the same way and made sure it never left my site, EVER! That is the only way folks. Just life in NYC.
